i spend shabbat in the old city of jerusalem
no turning on lights, no using hot water, no ripping toilet paper
and unfortunately, no taking pictures.
i did, however, dance on a rooftop, chill at the kotel, tour ancient ruins,
and regrettably, eat my weight in challah.
but the highlight of the weekend:
yeshiva student: why do we wear kippahs?
young boy: to cover our horns!
shavua tov!

breaking news
february 11, 2011: after 18 days of protests in egypt, mubarak resigns
and where was i on this historical day?
in eilat. the southernmost city of israel.
on the border of egypt and jordan.
and what was i doing while the egyptians celebrated?
eagerly waiting for the red sea to part, of course.
but that never happened.
so i waved hello to jordan,
and set out to see eilat:
half jeans, half bar
carnival game for cigarettes
trashcan with attitude

why my apartment is da bomb:
1. there is a view of the old city.
2. the blinds are bulletproof.
3. the first bedroom has an extra door. because it's a functional bomb shelter.
and it's been 6 falafels since my last post.
